Hi All,

Considering a car (QP V), but has some issues with rust on driver side front wing.

What would be the correct way to get this repaired permanently?

Alternatively would you rather just steer clear if you saw something like this on a prospective purchase?

Thanks

I imagine it's had wheel spacers on which has led to stone chips.

I've noticed since having spacers on my GT, the arch lip and the lower part of drivers door has been getting peppered.

If you don't touch them up quick, that's what happens.

Silver can be a bugger to match, and rust is a real devil to sort permanently.

If it was my money, unless it's your perfect spec, I would look elsewhere.

I imagine a body shop could clean it up and respray the wing for maybe £500-750. But as others have said fitting those tyres to a Maserati , I have them on my Clio and I think they were a cheapie to get it through the MOT

Check out No27 on YouTube he's just had rust removed from his Jaguar XJR and they did a beautiful job.
Mind his £4200 car now owes him closer to £10,000 so probably not his best buy to date.

I have just removed my wheel arches and checked/cleaned/lanoguarded to prevent this from happening. Easier and cheaper to prevent than cure.

If the car was a diamond and ticked all the boxes, then the rust repair would not bother me as it is quite easy to fix. Any decent bodyshop could sort it out

Thanks. Good to know. I assume you mean the wheel arch liners ?

Ha yes, indeed - wheel arch liners, much easier than the wheel arches lol.

I specifically took them down to check for this exact problem of trapped mud creating the rust anywhere under or near the wheel arch liners.

Mine were clean, but I only drive in the rain, if I get caught in it. I generally drive on dry days.
